Who are the Boulenciel Saturne Carbon boules intended for?
The Boulenciel Saturne Carbon boule is designed for shooters. It is important to note that Boulenciel offers two versions of this boule: one with a hardness of 110 kg/mm² and the other with 118 kg/mm². The version available on Pétanque Web is the softer one, recommended primarily for shooters.
Why choose this set of boules?
The Boulenciel Saturne Carbon boule will certainly appeal to pétanque enthusiasts. It is a high-end boule, designed to bring out the full potential of a pétanque player. Every detail in this set is precise, starting with the balancing, which is within 0.1% of the boule's weight, and the spherical diameter, which is close to 0.02 mm.
Boulenciel achieves this technical feat with their incredible CNC (computer numerical control) machines. These machines enable precise turning on each side of the boule, followed by a final rectification. The result is impressive. For shooting enthusiasts, it's worth noting that the boule has very minimal recoil. It is easily recognizable thanks to its unique double-ringed grooves. These original engravings positively impact the shock absorption of the set.
What are its characteristics?
Color: Gray
Material: Carbon steel
Hardness: Soft (110 kg/mm²)
Diameter: From 71 to 76 mm
Weight: From 680 g to 700 g
Warranty: 2 years
These new carbon steel boules come with a protective black coating when purchased. However, this layer tends to wear off over time, revealing the original color of the carbon steel. Rest assured, this gradual transformation does not affect the boule's performance, which is FFPJP (French Federation of Pétanque and Jeu Provençal) approved.
Our tips for maintaining the competition boule
Carbon steel is sensitive to humidity and can easily oxidize, which is why it is essential to adopt the right practices to prevent your boule from rusting. First, clean your boule after each game. Occasionally, apply gun oil or petroleum jelly. If you need to store it, avoid putting it in your car's trunk, as the fluctuating temperatures can accelerate the oxidation process.
